Magic

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)
Hope your Christmas morning has been magical.
I think the snow makes it perfect, don't you?
I've spent my morning with the fam, opening presents on the floor. We just got a bunch of blankets and pillows and made a sort of Christmas present fortress.
My baby brother got a new acoustic guitar, and he has been trying to learn "3rd Planet" by Modest Mouse all morning. :) Le sigh.

I look like such a lush... ha :) Mmm pink champagne!

(The aftermath)

Last night I spent Christmas Eve at my second home (ha ha) and opened presents with my lovely boy. He is the SWEETEST. I would try to explain my all of my gifts, but as most of them involve inside jokes, I'll just say that they were really really good and thoughtful. :)

This one was my favorite though... :)

And these were just way too cool.
Bracelets that look like focusing rings. I am in love.

And a few days ago, we took a little trip down to Eureka Springs, AK to stay in their pretty pretty treehouses! They were so
magical! I never wanted to leave.

This season is so lovely.

5 Things: Written Word Edition

Instead of 5 images that have inspired me this week, I thought I'd share 5 written works.
One is Sylvia Plath, one is by Ellen Bass, one... is an interview for Playboy by director Stanley Kubrick, which may be the most beautiful of all.... and the other two I am unsure of the origin, but they are lovely all the same.

Holy Birthday Weekend, Batman!

I had three birthdays this year. Yep. Three.
Chalk it up to the joys of being a busy college student and a child of divorce. ;)
But it was a truly great one. And now I'm liquor legal! Woot!

FIRST, I went out for sushi with my Mum and her bf Kelly... the night before my birthday. And had a preemptive chocolate martini haha.. was fun. Oh, and my mum discovered photobooth... and I practically had to drag her away from my Macbook. lol Too funny.

Then, my Jacob came over and surprised me at midnight! He was so sneaky about it too! Ha. And he gave me the most gorgeous point and shoot. The sweetest.
Annnnnnd the next day, we went for ice cream and a movie. We saw 127 Hours at The Moxie.
My boy was tired...

And I definitely closed my eyes during the arm sawing part. Bleck.
He was brave. :) It was a great day.

AND then, last night, I went out for belated birthday dinner with my Dad, his gf Gena, and my Gramma.
We went to Avanzare, and had good italian food, vintage champagne, ice wine from Germany, and Tequila shots.. haha. And yes, my ninety year old gramma took it like a champ. :) So much fun.
I wore plaid and vintage boots. :)

Was a great weekend.

Candy Canes & Birthday Plans

We have candy canes... everywhere... around my house.
Literally, everywhere!
And as a result, I find that I have eaten like 15 of them in the last week.
Like, absentmindedly walking around my house... with a candy can sticking out of my cheek.
It's been a rough week... ha.
I just want Christmas break to be here NOW.

... I think we're losing it. Ha ha.

This weekend is so busy! We've got a wedding on Saturday, and my birthday on Sunday :)
I've been fumbling for something to do, since it's so close to final exams, and since we're doing a belated celebration in Eureka Springs on the 21st. :) But I think I've settled on going to The Moxie to watch 127 Hours and drink wine with my boy. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

Hope you're staying warm this week!

Amazing Things Are Happening...

December is such a magical month. :)
FIRST OF ALL, my favorite artist in the entire world just released.... A VINYL.
Jim Houser+Vinyl=Christmas came early this year for Miss Mae. <3

It's a 10" vinyl & 16 page booklet of his installations, paintings, etc.
I DIE.
And if you do too, here's where you can grab one. :)

Another beautiful December surprise is "December" by Sleeping At Last

In case you haven't heard, Sleeping At Last is doing a project called "Yearbook" in which they intend to write, record, produce, and release THREE SONGS per month for a year. These little baby EP's are so beautiful, and the album art is as lovely as always. I think October is my favorite so far... :) But November and December are equally great.

They are only $3 a piece, and if you'd like one, you can get them here. :)

I was quite the early bird this year, and got all of my Christmas shopping done before the first of December. Oh, except for my Dad, who is extremely hard to buy for. I'll have to keep thinking about that one... :)

Hope your December is bringing magical things...
