Pioneers
I've finally decided on a final portfolio project for Photography.
My concept is Pioneers: Revisiting the New Frontier & Connections Made in Modern Obscurity.
Yes, I know it's wordy. :) But basically, it's just about family, and friends, and the modern "tribe" that we create.
I want my photos to be primarily portraits of my loved ones, mixed with some of autumnal nature.
I have to shoot 10 or more rolls (yikes) so I've definitely got my work cut out for me.
I think diffused light is going to suit this concept a bit better than high noon harsh lighting, so I'm going to aim for late in the day-early evening, mostly shot in the woods. I want to emulate the work of Sally Mann (minus the inappropriate child nudity haha) so I'm writing my research paper on her.
Here is some of her work....
Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I think there's something beautiful about her work.
And here's the poem that sort of spurred my vision.... in a Levi's commercial! Ha :)
We'll see how it goes. :)
End of semester is way too stressful. I wish there were more hours in the day.

5 Things
It's been too long. <3
1.) Rediscovering an old favorite. Well, not really "rediscovering."
I am very much aware of my love of Watchmen. It's my favorite graphic novel,
and was, long before the movie.
But the other day I was reminded of my favorite chapter, and how it makes me cry every time, and how silly that is.
But it's beautiful. You should check it out.
2.) I conquered a bottle of this IN A DAY. I swear there are some sort of amphetamines in there.
Sooooooo good.
3.) I am so fascinated by this portrait of Picasso.
I love how this drawing wouldn't have been captured without the art of photography.
4.) Andrew Bird. This album, particularly. I listened to it a couple autumns ago, and I think it's time to own this one on vinyl...
5.) Holy cute, Batman! And so yum! Baby Ben & Jerry's. $1, 100 calories. Sold.
Love, M

Bliss+Gelato+Window Seats
Oh hai, Harry Potter scar. Ha!
F-A-L-L B-R-E-A-K IS HERE!!!!
Gots a list of Autumnal activities to accomplish. :)
Oh, and Jackass 3D, of course. I'm a classy lady.
I've been researching the heck out of "Green" products, and Eco-Friendly building techniques.
There are SO many cool things out there.
I'm remodeling a barn for my professor's sister, and turning it into a vacation home/b&b.
The entire design is going to be eco-friendly. From the siding, to the paint, to the insulation, to the textiles.
Should be an interesting challenge. :)
I'll have to blog some photos of what I'm using later.
I think I'm going to make the interior spaces super super modern, but I want to make sure that it still feels warm.
These are a few things that I'm thinking about utilizing...
I've had a serious obsession with these Dioscuri table lamps...for like 2 years.
There's also a cordless version for outdoor use, and it looks INCREDIBLE.
The Dodu bed is super fun, and functional, and I'm thinking of using it, or something close to it, for the guest bedroom.
This Frank Gehry collection is to die for.
His designs are always so sculptural and bold.
Might be a little too minimalist for my purposes, but I love it all the same.
For sure. For sure. These are my dining room chairs.. :)
I want at least one of these in the loft.
I think they're too fun.
They feel a little Flaming Lips to me, maybe that's why... ha.
This desk is madness, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
I like it, but I have an inexplicable urge to try and bite it, because it looks sorta rubbery from the photo.
And lastly, a pretty cute storage system. I like the open parts, and you can choose the color combos.
Also, there is a hay swing in the loft of the barn, and I'm going to make the sides and top of it shatterproof glass, and create a built-in ladder system up to it, and use it as a sort of window seat. Maybe I've lost my mind. :)
Have a good fall break,
Loves, Mae
Lots to do. Want to get gelato with the man later. :)
I'm addicted.

Hello Hello, Autumn
Went pumpkin patching the other day with Miss Jones.
Oh, and there were ponies. I was in heaven.
Fall break is this week! I've been working on secret projects this weekend. When bf comes over, I put them in my super secret bathroom closet, ha! Sorta nice to redirect my creative brain with something fun, rather than AutoCad plans and deadlines. FML. And, in lieu of this pretty pretty season, I thought I'd make a playlist to listen to while I work. :)
